View registered and guest customers from the dashboard. Shoppers still check out on WooCommerce. The Customers page is where you review buyer activity and contact details. You do not edit WordPress users here.
What it is
In the sidebar, open Store, then Customers. The list title is Customers. When a store is connected, the count reads N customers total on desktop, or N Total on a phone. While the list loads, the page shows Loading… Click a name in the Customer column to open the profile. Guest checkout buyers can appear after orders sync. They have no WordPress user. You cannot create, edit, or delete a customer from this page. Orders is a different sidebar item. Site Users under Roles is a different page.
How it helps you
You find a buyer, see spend and recent orders, and jump to an order. This overview lives in the dashboard, so you do not need the WooCommerce admin for a first look. You do not edit the WordPress user or send email from this page.
What is included
- No store connected: The card says No store connected. The link is Connect a store.
- Empty list: The table or phone cards say No customers found.
- Search: Placeholder Search by name, email, username… Button Search (phone: icon, aria Search). Max 100 characters. Matches email, first name, last name, and username on the local copy. It does not search phone or city. There is no status filter and no date filter. On a phone the field stays visible.
- Columns: Desktop only. Button Columns (N), where N is how many picker columns are on. Popover: Search columns…, Select all / Clear all, then N of M. Group heading Columns. Checkboxes. No Rename column. The first table column Customer (avatar plus name, links to the profile) is always visible and is not in the picker. Picker columns: First name, Last name, Email, Phone, Orders, Total spent, Address, Location, Username, Created. Defaults on: Email, Phone, Orders, Total spent, Location. Defaults off: First name, Last name, Address, Username, Created. Choices persist in this browser. Phone has no Columns button. Cards show name, email, N orders, and total spent.
- Phone on the list: A parsable number becomes a WhatsApp link titled Send WhatsApp message. Otherwise it is plain text or a hyphen.
- Export CSV: Button Export CSV (phone icon, aria Export CSV). Dialog title Export to CSV. Helper: Choose which columns to include in the file. The filters currently active on the list will be applied to the export. Here the only list filter is search. Select all / Clear all, then N of M selected. Cancel and Download file. Toast Exported N rows, or Export failed. There are no row checkboxes. Default columns: ID, Email, First Name, Last Name, Date Created, Orders, Total Spent. Optional: Username, Paying Customer, Phone, City, Country, Address, Postal Code.
- Pagination: Page N of M. Show 50, 100, 200, or 500 per page. Default 50. Previous and Next. The URL page is capped at 500.
- Local copy: The list reads the local customer copy first. If that copy is empty it falls back to live WooCommerce REST, which returns registered accounts only. Guest checkout buyers appear after orders sync. A missing recent customer is usually a sync lag. Refresh from Settings, Store data sync, with Sync Customers, Sync changes, or Sync everything. Those buttons are not on the Customers page.
- List statistics: Orders and Total spent on the list come from the local order copy. Total spent on the list counts Completed, Processing, and On Hold.
- Profile header: Back to customers. Name heading. Customer since plus the created datetime. Badge Paying customer when WooCommerce marks is_paying_customer. Loading copy is Loading… Missing id copy is Customer not found. Guest profiles load from the local copy. Live WooCommerce cannot load a guest id.
- Profile statistics: Cards Orders, Total spent, and Average per order. The profile uses the most recent 50 orders. Total spent on the profile counts only Completed and Processing in those 50. Average per order divides that spend by how many of those 50 orders are listed, including statuses that did not add to spend.
- Profile orders: Heading Orders (N). Empty copy This customer has no orders. Columns: Order (link #number to the order page), Status (the seven core labels), Items, Total, Date. Phone shows cards of those orders.
- Contact details: Email as plain text, not a mailto button. Username. Phone as WhatsApp when parsable. If account billing is empty, phone and address can come from a recent order.
- Addresses: Billing address and Shipping address. Empty copy: Not provided.
- Not on this page: No create customer, edit name or email or address, delete customer, send email, add a note, or change order status. No status filter. No date filter. No sort control. Companion is not required. There is no shortcode. Site Users is a different page.
How to turn on and manage each capability
Open Customers
- In the sidebar, open Store.
- Click Customers.
Search
- Enter a name, email, or username in Search by name, email, username…
- Click Search.
Choose columns
- On desktop, click Columns (N).
- Check or uncheck columns. Use Search columns…, Select all, or Clear all. The first Customer column stays visible. The choice stays in this browser.
Export CSV
- Set the search you want in the file. That is the only list filter.
- Click Export CSV.
- Pick columns, then click Download file. Click Cancel to close without exporting.
Open a profile
- On desktop, click the name in the Customer column. On a phone, tap the card.
- Read Customer since, the Paying customer badge when it is present, the three stat cards, Contact details, Billing address, and Shipping address.
Open an order from a profile
- On the profile, find the Orders table.
- Click the order #number in the Order column. Status changes happen on the order page, not here.
Refresh the local copy
- Open Settings, then Store data sync. Those controls are not on the Customers page.
- Click Sync Customers, or use Sync changes / Sync everything. Guest checkout buyers need orders in the local copy, so a missing guest is often fixed with Sync Orders.
What to know before you start
- The list is a local copy. A missing recent customer is usually a sync lag.
- Guest checkout buyers appear after orders sync. They have no WordPress user. Live WooCommerce cannot open a guest profile.
- You cannot create, edit, or delete a customer here.
- Total spent on the list counts Completed, Processing, and On Hold. On the profile it counts Completed and Processing in the most recent 50 orders only.
- The profile orders table is capped at 50. Older orders stay on WooCommerce and on the Orders list.
- There is no status filter, date filter, or sort control on this page. Default order is newest registered first.
- Companion is not required to open Customers. There is no shortcode.
- Site Users under Roles manages WordPress users. That is not this page. Orders is a different sidebar item.
Problems you may hit, and how to fix them
- Symptom: The list shows No store connected. Fix: Click Connect a store and finish onboarding.
- Symptom: The list says No customers found, but WooCommerce has buyers. Fix: Clear search. If it is still empty, run Sync Customers on Settings, Store data sync.
- Symptom: A guest checkout buyer is missing. Fix: Guest rows appear after orders sync. Open Settings, Store data sync, then click Sync Orders.
- Symptom: Search by phone or city returns nothing. Fix: Search matches email, first name, last name, and username only.
- Symptom: The Columns button is missing on a phone. Fix: Column customization is desktop only. Phone uses cards.
- Symptom: The profile says Customer not found. Fix: Return to the list and open the row again. A guest id cannot load from live WooCommerce. Run sync if the row is gone from the list.
- Symptom: The Paying customer badge is missing. Fix: The badge appears only when WooCommerce marks is_paying_customer.
- Symptom: Total spent on the list disagrees with the profile. Fix: The list includes On Hold. The profile does not. The profile also uses only the most recent 50 orders.
- Symptom: The profile says This customer has no orders, but WooCommerce has older orders. Fix: The table lists the most recent 50 only. If it is empty, this copy has no orders for that customer. Run Sync Orders.
- Symptom: Email is not a mailto link. Fix: Expected. Contact details shows email as plain text.
- Symptom: There is no Sync Customers button on this page. Fix: Open Settings, then Store data sync.
- Symptom: You cannot edit the name or send email from the profile. Fix: Expected. Customers is view-only. Site Users is a different page.
