How to bulk-edit products in the spreadsheet grid

Spreadsheet Editing is a grid on the Products list for editing many WooCommerce products at once.

What it is

Spreadsheet Editing provides a grid to view and modify your WooCommerce products directly from the WooDonkey dashboard. Editing cells does not require the WooDonkey Companion plugin. Companion is a separate product for storefront features.

To access it, navigate to Store, then Products. On the Products list page, click the Spreadsheet Editing button. The page title is Spreadsheet Editing, and a ‘Back to Products’ link is available. While you can scroll the grid on mobile, a desktop is recommended. Spreadsheet Editing is not a sidebar item.

Spreadsheet Editing lets you change price, stock, categories, SEO, and other fields across many products on one grid, without opening each product editor.

What is included

Spreadsheet Editing includes the following:

  • Toolbar: Search, Filters, Columns, Column sets, Reset columns, Add rows, Export CSV, Undo, Discard all, and Save.
  • Search and Filters: Status, Category, Tag, Attribute, Product type, Stock status, plus per-column filters.
  • Column groups: Basics, Price, Stock, Shipping, Tax, Type, Taxonomy, Content, SEO, Dates, Overview, Attributes, and ACF. Shipping class is not a column. It is a bulk action. Tax and Tax Class are columns.
  • Built-in columns: ID (readonly), Primary Image, Image Gallery, SKU, Product Name, Slug, Status, Type, Featured, Catalog Visibility, Zap Product and Marketplace when Zap is available, Regular Price, Sale Price, Current Price (readonly), Unit of Measure (readonly), Quantity per Product (readonly), Price per Unit (readonly), role Regular and Sale columns, Stock Status, Stock Quantity, Manage Stock, Weight, Length, Width, Height, Tax, Tax Class, Virtual, Downloadable, Categories, Tags, Short Description, Full Description, SEO Title, Meta Description, Focus Keyphrase, Yoast SEO (readonly), Readability (readonly), Created, Modified (readonly), SEO, GEO, FAQ, Total sales (readonly), one column per global attribute, and ACF columns.
  • Freeze: Product Name is frozen by default. Maximum two frozen columns. Freeze column / Unfreeze column.
  • Keyboard: The page tip covers range select, arrows, Tab, Enter / F2 / double-click, Space on checkboxes, Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V, and Delete.
  • Pagination: Show 50, 100, 200, or 500 per page. Default 50. Previous / Next.
  • Add rows: Up to 50 empty rows. Products exist in WooCommerce only after Save. Defaults: name New product, status draft, type simple.
  • Save limits: 500 updates and 200 creates per save. Undo keeps 10 actions. Discard all has no confirmation.
  • Actions on selected rows: Manage categories, Manage tags, Update price, Update stock, Shipping class, Set Cross-Sells, Set Up-Sells, Change status, Duplicate, Delete. AI Write FAQ / Write SEO / Run GEO are not on this sheet.
  • Variations: Show/hide variations. Editable: SKU, Regular Price, Sale Price, Stock Status, Stock Quantity, Status, Primary Image.
  • Role prices: Editable on simple products only.
  • Export CSV is export, not import. CSV Import is a different Products workflow.
  • Column sets: Save, update, or delete named column sets.

How to turn on and manage each capability

  • Open Spreadsheet Editing: Open Store, then Products. Click Spreadsheet Editing. Use Back to Products to return.
  • Search and filter: Click Search or Filters, set the fields, then Search or Done.
  • Choose columns, freeze, and column sets: Click Columns to show or hide fields. Use Freeze column or Column sets, or Reset columns.
  • Edit cells: Double-click, press Enter, or press F2. Copy, paste, and fill from the page tip.
  • Add new products from empty rows: Click Add rows, choose how many, then fill the rows and click Save.
  • Select many products and use Actions: Select rows, open Actions, and run the action you need.
  • Save, undo, or discard: Click Save, Undo, or Discard all. Discard all has no confirmation.
  • Export CSV: Click Export CSV to open Export to CSV.
  • Edit variations: Click Show/hide variations and edit the allowed variation cells.
  • Set role prices on simple products: Show the role price columns in Columns, then edit them on simple products only.

What to know before you start

  • Not a sidebar item. Desktop is recommended.
  • New rows are not in WooCommerce until Save.
  • AI writing actions are not on this sheet. Shipping class is not a column.
  • Role prices are simple products only. Save caps are 500 updates and 200 creates.
  • Add rows max 50. Undo keeps 10 actions. Freeze max 2 columns. CSV import is a different page.

Problems you may hit, and how to fix them

  • Symptom: No Spreadsheet in the sidebar. Fix: Open Products, then Spreadsheet Editing.
  • Symptom: Save is disabled. Fix: There is nothing dirty, a save is pending, or the grid has errors.
  • Symptom: New rows missing in WooCommerce. Fix: Click Save.
  • Symptom: Variation or role-price cell refused. Fix: Only listed variation fields are editable. Role prices are simple only.
  • Symptom: No Shipping Class column. Fix: Use Actions, then Shipping class.
  • Symptom: Expected CSV import here. Fix: This toolbar exports. Import is on the Products list.
  • Symptom: Discard all wiped work. Fix: There is no confirmation dialog. Discard all cannot be undone.
