Popups & Badges is a native WooDonkey feature that lets you create on-site campaigns for your WooCommerce store. Shoppers see these widgets on your storefront. Rendering, analytics, lead submissions, and purchase attribution run through the WooDonkey Companion plugin on your store.
What it is
Popups & Badges lives under Advanced Tools in WooDonkey. The screen has two tabs: Popups & Badges for campaigns, and Leads for submissions.
Nothing shows on your WooCommerce store until you turn on Enable Popups & Badges on your store. Then create campaigns with New popup or New badge. The WooDonkey Companion plugin on your store renders them to shoppers.
How it helps you
Create targeted on-site campaigns and capture leads directly on your WooCommerce store without needing a separate popup plugin. Deliver timely messages to shoppers or provide persistent floating badges that guide them to key pages. Control exactly when and where these campaigns appear to maximize their impact.
What is included
- A master switch, Enable Popups & Badges on your store, which is off by default.
- Choose between Window (centered) or Strip (full-width bar) popup types.
- Create badges with Image, Icon, or Text content, in Wide rectangle, Tall rectangle, Square, Circle, or Original image (no crop) shapes.
- Position badges precisely using a 9-point Position on screen grid.
- A block palette for popups including Text, Image, Button, Lead form, Divider, and Spacer.
- A link picker for buttons and badges that can target a Page, Product, Category, Tag, or a custom URL.
- Control where campaigns appear with Display settings like Any page or URL contains…
- Set campaign active times and days using Schedule, respecting your store’s WooCommerce timezone.
- Define when and how often campaigns show with Timing options, including Don’t show again after a click and four How often modes.
- Analytics cards for Views, Clicks, Purchases, and Conversion rate, with purchases attributed to the last click in the same session.
- A Leads tab to view submissions, with filtering and an Export CSV option.
- Lead form submissions can be sent to a Notification email and/or a Webhook URL directly from your store.
How to turn on and manage each capability
Open Popups & Badges
- From the WooDonkey sidebar, go to Advanced Tools, then click Popups & Badges.
- On the Popups & Badges screen, locate the master switch row and toggle Enable Popups & Badges on your store to the on position. Nothing will appear on your storefront if this is off.
Create a popup
- On the Popups & Badges screen, click the New popup button. A new popup named New popup will be created and open in the editor.
- In the editor, you can change the Name and toggle the Enabled switch (new popups start as Draft until enabled).
- Use the Type panel to choose Window (centered) or Strip (full-width bar). If you choose Strip, select its Strip position.
- Drag and drop blocks like Text, Image, or Button from the block palette into your popup. Click any block in the preview to edit its content, size, and colors.
- Use the Design, Shadow & border, and Close button panels to customize the popup’s appearance.
- Click Save changes to apply your modifications.
Add a lead form
- While editing a popup, drag the Lead form block from the block palette into your popup.
- Click the Lead form block in the preview to open its settings.
- Choose which Fields to show (First name, Last name, Phone, Email, Date), set placeholders, and mark them as Required.
- Customize the Consent checkbox and its Consent text if needed.
- Set the Submit button text and its styling.
- Under After submit, choose what happens when a shopper submits the form: Show a message, Go to an existing page, Go to a custom link, or Close the popup.
- Under Where leads are sent, add at least one destination: a Notification email and/or a Webhook URL. These are sent from your store.
- Click Save changes.
Create a badge
- On the Popups & Badges screen, click the New badge button. A new badge named New badge will be created and open in the editor.
- In the editor, you can change the Name. New badges are Enabled by default.
- In the Content & position panel, choose Content type: Image, Icon, or Text.
- Select a Shape (for example Wide rectangle, Circle, or Original image (no crop) for images).
- Define the Position on screen using the 9-point grid and set the Distance from corner (px).
- Optionally, add a Click-through link using the link picker.
- Use the Text & colors, Shadow & border, and Close button panels to customize its appearance.
- Click Save changes to apply your modifications.
Display, schedule, and timing
- While editing a popup or badge, navigate to the Display panel.
- Under Show on, select the pages where your campaign should appear (for example Any page, Product page, or URL contains…).
- Under Audience, choose who sees the campaign: All visitors, Logged-in customers only, or Guests only.
- Go to the Schedule panel. Optionally set Start and End dates, and select specific Active days or Active from and Active until times. These times respect your store’s WooCommerce timezone.
- Go to the Timing panel.
- Set Show after (seconds) and choose an Entrance effect.
- Select How often the campaign should appear (for example Every page view, Once only, Once a day, Once per visit).
- Optionally, enable Don’t show again after a click to prevent the campaign from reappearing for a shopper after they interact with it (click a link, a badge, or the close button).
- Click Save changes.
Review leads
- From the WooDonkey sidebar, go to Advanced Tools, then click Popups & Badges.
- Click the Leads tab.
- Use the filters to narrow down submissions by Popup, From date, or To date.
- Use the Columns to show or hide specific lead details.
- Click Export CSV to download all matching lead submissions, not just those visible on the current page.
What shoppers see
Shoppers on your WooCommerce store will see popups and floating badges appear after the page has fully loaded. Popups will display as a centered overlay or a full-width bar at the top or bottom of the screen. Badges will float in a chosen position on the screen. There is no exit-intent or scroll-based trigger for these campaigns.
What to know before you start
- The master switch Enable Popups & Badges on your store is off by default.
- New popups start as Draft (disabled) by default, while new badges are Enabled.
- The WooDonkey Companion plugin must be active on your store for popups and badges to appear and for analytics to function.
- There are no exit-intent or scroll-based triggers for popups or badges.
- Badges float on the screen. They do not appear on product images or thumbnails. Promotions image badges are a separate feature.
- The Lead form block is available only for popups, not for badges.
- Analytics (Views, Clicks, Purchases, Conversion rate) are all-time totals. Purchases are attributed only if the shopper clicks the campaign and buys in the same session.
- Lead submissions are stored and listed in WooDonkey under the Leads tab, not in your WordPress wp-admin area.
- Notification emails and webhooks for lead forms are sent directly from your store’s WordPress installation, not from WooDonkey servers.
- Lead forms use a honeypot for spam protection. There is no CAPTCHA.
- The Add-to-Cart Popup is a separate tool found under Advanced Tools > Add-to-Cart Popup.
- Promotions image badges on product thumbnails are a separate Promotions feature.
Problems you may hit, and how to fix them
- Nothing shows on my storefront. Check the master switch Enable Popups & Badges on your store is on. Ensure the individual popup or badge Enabled switch is on (not Draft). Confirm the WooDonkey Companion plugin is active on your store.
- A popup or badge showed once but never again. Review the Timing settings. If How often is set to Once only or Once per visit, or if Don’t show again after a click is enabled and the shopper clicked it, it will not reappear for that shopper.
- My popup/badge shows on the wrong pages. Adjust the Display settings under Show on to target the correct pages or URLs.
- My campaign schedule seems off. The Schedule settings use your store’s WooCommerce timezone. Verify the timezone is set correctly in your WooCommerce settings.
- Analytics cards show zero, but I know people saw my campaign. Ensure the WooDonkey Companion plugin is active and communicating with WooDonkey. Analytics data relies on the Companion plugin.
- Leads appear in the Leads tab but I do not get email notifications. Check the Notification email field in your lead form settings. Confirm it has a valid address, and that your store WordPress mailer can send.
- A purchase happened after a popup view, but it’s not counted. Purchases are attributed only when a shopper clicks the popup or badge and then completes a purchase in the same browsing session. A view without a click is not counted.
- I expected my badge to appear on product images, but it floats on the screen. This feature creates floating badges on the screen. Promotions image badges on product thumbnails are a separate Promotions feature.
- The icon picker is empty when creating a badge. The icon picker requires a network connection to load icons in the dashboard. Check your internet connection.
